We're back!

01 June 2021

A summer of stunning theatre beckons, as the Bristol Shakespeare Festival returns!

2020 saw a scaled-back, online version of the beloved festival, but this year, BSF is back to its signature blend of indoor and outdoor performances, online events, workshops, and quirky takes on favourite plays.

With renowned touring companies such as Folksy, Natural Theatre Company and The Lord Chamberlain’s Men performing in a whole range of iconic Bristol venues and locations, the festival promises to play its part in reigniting the city’s famous theatre scene.  With family-friendly shows, intriguing fringe events, and the festival’s in-house company putting on the hilarious, all-new King Lear the Musical, there’s fun for everyone in store.

Proceedings begin on the 24th June at The Room Above, the nifty performance space of Kingsdown’s famous White Bear pub, with Smokescreen Theatre’s award-winning Waiting For Hamlet, a witty fusion of two of history’s most famous plays. What follows is over two months of fantastic events and shows, tickets for which can be booked HERE. Don't forget to check regularly as more fantastic shows are added to the programme!

It’s thrilling to be able to welcome the magic of theatre back to Bristol, and with some of the nation’s best companies champing at the bit to get their shows on the road, what a welcome it’s going to be!

Anticipation's building...

It’s worth mentioning that our programme may be subject to change based on any amendments to government guidance – which as well all know, can sometimes change rapidly. Please be assured, though, that all required social distancing measures will be in place to keep you safe, and we’ve even got a raft of online content from fabulous companies like the South Devon Players. Whatever happens, great things are afoot!

We’ll be continuing to release announcements of our amazing shows and companies, both old and new, so stay glued to our social media for a stream of reveals before we release our new, digital programme in summer!

See you there!
